An Aboriginal Liaison Officer ensures Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have equal access to health care services. They aim to increase cultural awareness and sensitivity of health care services to the distinct needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families.
They also ensure their clients understand diagnostic tests and treatment options. They encourage their clients to have frequent health checks and explain hospital procedures.
Please inform the nursing staff if you wish to make contact with this officer.
A Tongan cultural officer is also available at the service, please inform the nursing staff if you wish to see the cultural officer.
