Nurse Unit Manager
Full Time

This pivotal leadership role oversees Acute Medical, Outpatients, Renal Unit, Palliative Care, and our Aged Nursing Home services, while fostering collaborative relationships with District Nursing and supporting our offsite campuses. The successful candidate will be a visible and hands-on leader who drives clinical excellence, service innovation, and a culture of accountability and compassion.

About the Role

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of patient-centred care across diverse clinical settings. You will lead from the front, empowering your team while ensuring compliance, sustainability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership to nursing teams across multiple programs
  • Promoting a positive, accountable and high-performing workplace culture
  • Overseeing clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement initiatives
  • Monitoring patient outcomes and driving evidence-based practice
  • Managing workforce planning including rostering, recruitment, performance management and succession planning
  • Supporting professional development and building clinical capability within the team
  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, seamless care delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Representing nursing services at leadership level and advocating for both patients and staff

About You

We are seeking a confident and experienced nursing leader who thrives in a rural health environment and is capable of managing complex service delivery across varied programs.

You will bring:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate nursing experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a managerial or leadership role
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Renal Nursing
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical governance and contemporary nursing practice
  • Strong financial and workforce management capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High-level organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in clinical information systems and data-driven decision making
  • A genuine commitment to rural healthcare and continuous professional development
