NAIDOC Celebrations at RDHS 2017

NAIDOC celebrations took place at Robinvale District Health Services on Monday 3rd July, with the Vacation Program Children and health service staff making their own Johnny Cakes.

MVAC also celebrated with a Flag Raising, with RDHS CEO Mara Richards taking part in their event with local Aboriginal Elder, Clive Bowden, who together raised the relevant Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags in front of a very enthusiastic and supportive crowd!

At RDHS, visitors and staff enjoyed the warm fire with local Aboriginal Elders, chatting, and enjoying the Johnny cakes, damper and some hot stews which were prepared by RDHS kitchen staff.

Our staff wore NAIDOC shirts to wear throughout the week, to demonstrate their support whilst attending the various celebrations around Robinvale.

NAIDOC is a celebration of community coming together, experiencing each others cultures and enjoying and tasting different foods, in addition to just having fun and also a good old yarn in a relaxing and welcoming environment.
