Heat Health Alerts from the Chief Health Officer have been issued based on the Bureau of Meteorology 7-day forecast. Temperatures are set to rise again this week looking at three consecutive days of 40+.
Remember to Survive the heat with these five simple tips;
Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty, taking small sips frequently
Never leave anyone in the car – The temperature inside a parked car during the Australian summer can be 20 to 30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature.” “On a 29 degree Celsius day a car can reach 44 degrees in just 10 minutes and a deadly 60 degrees in 20 minutes.
Try and stay somewhere cool – Spend as much time as possible in cool or air-conditioned buildings
Plan ahead – Keep up to date with weather forecasts – watch the news daily, check the BOM forecast online and schedule activities for the coolest part of the day.
Check on others – Look after those most at risk and keep in touch with friends and family who may need help
