A confidential record will be kept of your illness and treatment. Access to this information is limited to health care professionals directly involved in your treatment.
X-rays and pathology tests are reported on by external professional agencies. These records and x-rays remain the health service’s property and are kept for a minimum 14 years. The contents of your medical record will only be divulged with your consent or where required by law.
Freedom of Information
Under the Freedom of Information Act, you are generally entitled to information contained in your medical record. Should you request this, a fee is payable for this service. Please apply in writing to the Chief Executive Officer if you wish to have access to your information.
