History

Robinvale was first settled by returned World War II soldiers, attracted by the fertile soils, warm climate and irrigation opportunities. The area soon developed as a rural township with growing demand for health services. Sister Goldsbro, a pioneer of the district, set up a home-based health service in nearby Euston, where she tended the community’s health needs. As demand grew, two buildings were purchased in nearby Robinvale and in 1957, the first hospital was built. The hospital soon evolved into a first-class health service and is now the model for excellence in rural Australian health services.

The most recent building works were opened in June 2000. The $3.8 million development incorporates the acute medical ward, nursing home and ambulance station. The community worked tirelessly fundraising for the new building and raised more than $600,000 toward construction.
