New Parents Group – 2.00PM

All parents having their first baby in Victoria are offered group work. These are usually attended by the mother but some fathers are there, work permitting.

Each week a different topic is presented, baby massage, dental care, foods for babies, safety issues, development of the baby in the first year of life, to name a few. Family planning and women’s health, post natal depression, and changes in a family dynamics, are topic discussed to share with the parents.

Guest speakers are invited to share their knowledge and offer information; this gives added interest to those present, and can promote local services.

Lots of informal discussion about babies and sharing experiences is welcomed by many of the mothers in a safe environment.

Normally these groups are conducted in an 8 week block but the local MCHN extends the group work longer as the small local area does not always have support for these new mums to continue getting together.

Robinvale District Health Services acknowledges the traditional Aboriginal owners of the land and pay our respects to Elders both past and present
